as i get a sense of how to actually navigate my own blog (can an old dog learn new tricks with medium-speed-sometimes-working internet?) i thought i'd post some pictures of Adamawa men and items they sell that i've come across in open markets here. i love open markets anywhere in the world because there's still a sense of order and one stop shopping in what initially appears to be a reckless abandon of color, trade, and communication. pictured here are 'hulana,' the housa word for 'hats,' a butcher showing off his meat and carving capabilities, flour and rice, and a man who wants you to brush your teeth. i'd take an outdoor african market over uninterested sales people and bad florecent lights at an american mall any day!

I'm in Adamawa for a bit and looking forward to seeing the sights - I want to hike in Girei near FUTY and see Koma Hills , soon. Let's do it.
you're welcome to email me or call if you're around a bit longer. those two know how to get a hold of me.
