Yummy, Natural Nigerian Goodness

Welcome to my first posting! I am currently living in Yola (it's twin 'city' is Jimetta), Adamawa State, Nigeria, and I've been blown away by the great colors and vibes around here. Coming back from a mountain weekend road trip I had to stop and take in the road side markets full of fresh food grown from people who live in the area. These peanuts, dried peppers, spicy yellow peppers, bell peppers, and tomatoes all tasted as good as they looked.

The salt options for sale in the Wednesday Fulani Market near Jimetta made me think about the phrase 'turned into a pillar of salt.' One of the reasons I like Nigeria is because of the spices used in food, but no matter your hot tolerance, you can't live in Africa without salt!

Two weeks ago we drove to the mountains (about 2km above sea level, or a bit less than a mile and a half) in Taraba State to visit a tea plantation. It's the first time I've been cold in Nigeria since I arrived about six weeks ago, and many of the people I was with said they'd never seen a Nigeria like this before. Low clouds, green green green, and acres of tea plants that reminded me so much of Kenya. I love seeing things we consume in their natural state.
